The founder of "Facebook", accused by a former employee of putting profit above users' safety, chose the name "meta", which means "after" in ancient Greek, to show that "there are additional things to be built".
Observers considered that changing the name may distance the parent company from the accusations that were recently leveled on its Facebook site, after the Wall Street Journal reported a number of internal documents that showed details of the company's handling of a number of controversial issues.
The whistleblower, Frances Hogan, who provided the Wall Street Journal with these documents, appeared in a hearing before the US Senate, in early October, and presented her testimony about what she described as breaches within the company and placing profits a priority over the interests of users, while Facebook denied these accusations. .
