#USA# A restaurant punishes a couple for "wearing a mask"

At this time, people may face problems when entering a public place without wearing a protective mask against the Corona virus, but the opposite happened in the US state of Texas, when a couple was denied service in a restaurant because of their insistence on wearing the mask.

According to the British newspaper, "The Guardian", Natalie Wester and her husband, Jose, and a limited number of their friends, had an exceptional experience when they went out for a walk, and went to a restaurant in Rowlette, 20 miles outside of Dallas.

According to Natalie, the matter was very important for the mental health of her and her husband as recent parents, and although the two received the vaccine against Corona completely, they always remained keen to wear a muzzle in public places, to protect their 4-month-old son, who suffers from immunodeficiency .

But the experience was harsh for the couple as soon as they sat inside the restaurant, and as Natalie explains: "Our waitress came, sat next to me, and said, our manager asked me to go to you because I'm better than him (in dealing with people)... This is a political matter, I want you to take off your masks."

When the couple refused to comply, they were asked to leave.

Like many other US states, Texas has struggled to cope with an increase in cases of the Covid-19 virus, however, Governor Greg Abbott, who tested positive for the virus in August, tried to ban the compulsory wearing of masks.

But the owner of the restaurant, identified only as Tom, considered the "no mask" rule to be part of the venue's dress code, and that he reserves the right to refuse to deal with sticklers.

According to the local CBS DFW channel, this rule was not published inside the restaurant, but rather a waitress informed the couple of the need to remove the masks.

The owner told CBS DFW that he did not know the infant was immunocompromised, however he intends to continue implementing his policy.

He continued, "I spent my money, my sweat, my blood and my tears on this work (the place), and I don't want masks here."
