The UAE signs a preliminary agreement to build a ship terminal in Jordan

 Today, Sunday, the UAE and Jordan signed a preliminary agreement to establish an advanced cruise ship terminal in "Marsa Zayed" in the city of Aqaba in the Kingdom of Jordan.



The Abu Dhabi Government Media Office said that the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, the leading engine for trade and logistics, signed the agreement with the Aqaba Development Company in Jordan.


He explained that this agreement will give Abu Dhabi Ports Group in the Kingdom its first facility and its first cruise ship terminal outside the UAE, where the cruise ship terminal will be developed in the port of Aqaba as a main gateway to receive passengers on cruise ships that will circle the Red Sea region. To become a magnet for the residents of Aqaba and provide a range of tourism, commercial and recreational services.


He pointed out that another preliminary agreement was also signed, stipulating that the Abu Dhabi Ports Group will develop the port community system for the Aqaba Ports system in order to facilitate communication between all Aqaba port operators, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, the Aqaba Development Company, the Jordan Maritime Authority, customs, support services and land operations.


According to the statement, the Abu Dhabi Ports Group will employ its extensive commercial and logistical expertise during its cooperation with the Aqaba Development Company with the aim of spreading this advanced system and enhancing the technical and technological capabilities of the Aqaba Ports system.


Jordan represents one of the UAE's most important Arab trading partners, as it accounts for 7% of the total volume of non-oil trade exchange of the Gulf state with Arab countries other than the GCC.


Mutual investments between the two countries are estimated at $20 billion, according to the Emirates News Agency.
