Qatar is building 16 floating hotels over water

Qatar is preparing to build 16 floating hotels by 2022, as part of its preparations to host the World Cup 2022.










On Sunday, Qatifan, the Qatari company owned by Katara Hospitality, signed a memorandum of understanding with ADMARs, a company specialized in alternative real estate, to build and operate 16 floating hotels on the shores of North Qatifan Island, to provide accommodation for the masses within the villages of fans during the Qatari World Cup.

These hotels come with a unique design, 72 meters in length and 16 meters in width, with a height of 4 floors and a capacity of 101 rooms, in addition to a restaurant and a coffee shop, bringing the total capacity of guests in the rooms to 1616 guests.

In view of the northern Qatifan island’s proximity to the “Lusail International Stadium” that hosts the opening and final matches of the Qatar World Cup 2022, and the great expectations of the numbers of tourists and fans that will visit Qatar before and during the World Cup for the first time in the Middle East, the island will provide all the needs of the masses and tourists with projects, facilities and entertainment activities In addition to the villages for fans during the championship, floating hotels are among them.

Deputy Chairman of the Katara Hospitality Board, Sheikh Nasser bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, said in statements today, Monday, that the project will have a promising future as the first tourism leisure destination in Qatar.

He attributed the reason for this to "the aspirations of the investors in returns through the secure public climate that the state has achieved to encourage and attract foreign investment and create new opportunities, and what will be positively reflected on the local market and encourages competition and stimulate sectors in all fields, especially in light of the remarkable rise in these sectors in Recently".

It is noteworthy that North Qatifan Island is part of the city of Lusail, and is considered the first recreational tourist island in Qatar, and it includes six beaches, which makes it a waterfront for the city.

The island covers an area of ​​one million and 300 thousand square meters, and the area of ​​projects on the island extends to approximately 830 thousand square meters.
