Paris Saint-Germain star, Kylian Mbappe, has acknowledged for the first time

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe admitted for the first time publicly that he had informed his club at the end of last July of his desire to leave.

"My position was clear. I said I wanted to leave and I said it early enough" to the officials in Saint-Germain, said the French national team star in an interview, excerpts of which were published on Radio Monte Carlo on its website.

"I said at the end of July that I wanted to leave," he added.

style="text-align: justify;">It is the first time that Mbappe has addressed this issue, which has sparked great controversy in the world of football, especially after the failure of his possible transfer to Real Madrid, who offered nearly 180 million euros in August to buy the last year of Mbappe's contract with the Parisian team.

Despite this, Saint-Germain closed the door to negotiations, declaring through its Brazilian sports director, Leonardo, that Mbappe "will either leave or remain on our terms."

"I said, if you don't want me to leave, I'll stay," said Mbappe, 21.

He added: "People said I turned down six or seven offers of an extension, that I don't want to talk to Leonardo anymore, that's not true at all. I was told 'Killian, now, you should talk to the president'" Qatari Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Mbappe's failure to extend his contract raises fears within the club that he will leave for free next summer.

The young star also responded to accusations that he waited until the last moment in the summer transfer market, at the end of August, to impose his departure as a fait accompli, denying that his intention to leave as a "thief", according to what was reported by "AFP".

"I asked to leave, because from the moment I did not want to extend my contract (which ends in the summer of 2022), I wanted the club to benefit from my transfer compensation to be able to get a good replacement," the Parisian striker explained.

Mbappe joined Saint-Germain in 2017 from Monaco, for 180 million euros.

"(Paris) is a club that has given me a lot, I have always been happy in my four years here, and I am still. I announced it early enough for the club to fulfill my wish. I wanted everyone to come out big and hand in hand with a good deal," said the young striker. I respect that."
