French President Macron threw an egg

In a new incident of attacking French President Emmanuel Macron, the latter was attacked while he was in an official activity by a 19-year-old young man. Macron had a similar accident in 2017. What are the facts and backgrounds of the reality today?

French President Macron threw an egg

On Monday (September 27, 2021), French President Emmanuel Macron was pelted with an egg while he was at a food fair, for the second time during his presidency. Video images showed how a boiled egg hit Macron's shoulder without breaking.

Macron was among a crowd of people at the exhibition in Bron, near Lyon, when a 19-year-old man threw an egg at Macron from a short distance.

And the Public Prosecution Office in Lyon announced that the young man was arrested immediately following the incident, as the young man faces an accusation of deliberately carrying out a violent act against a state official. No official statement has yet been released about the young man's motive.

A spokesman for Macron's office did not respond to a request for comment.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first incident of assault of its kind against Macron, as he was pelted with an egg in 2017, when he was a candidate for the presidency, but the previous incident was not as light as the incident today because the raw egg at that time broke on Macron's head.

In June, Macron's man was slapped while walking in southern France. The man was sentenced to four months in prison.
