The US military tests an artificial intelligence gun

The US military is testing a rifle that only fires if the target is in its range of bullets, to implement a "smart shot" system.

And two weapons development companies, one of them Israeli, are cooperating with the military to develop the gun, which is expected to enter service in 2023 if approved, according to the (Military) website specializing in military weapons.

The gun uses intelligent launching systems so that the bullet does not fire unless the target is in its path, in a move that aims to reduce unnecessary waste of ammunition, and to hit the targets accurately.

The rifle systems are based on a simulation of artificial intelligence software, which appears to the sniper whether or not the shot will hit the target.

The military is seeking to replace the M249 and M4A1 rifles with smart automatic rifles.

Both the Israeli smart-shooter and the American SIG Sauer are working on what they believe will be the next generation of such kind of weapons that volunteer technology to boost their work.

Models of the new rifle were shown at (SHOT Show 2020) held in Las Vegas in January, where it was tested on mobile and fixed targets.
