Boeing 737 Max planes are preparing to fly again after being suspended for nearly two years, after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed, on Wednesday, that it is safe to transport passengers again.
The administration of US President Donald Trump grounded the best-selling Boeing 737 Max in March 2019, after two planes crashed within eight months, killing a total of 346 people.
Both incidents were caused by a malfunction in the sensor in the flight control system, which would push the nose down. There was no backup sensor, and the pilots were not adequately trained to correct the problem.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is requiring new training to handle a major safety system called MCAS associated with two fatal accidents. It is also requesting new MCAS safeguards and other software changes.
China was one of the first countries to close its airspace to Boeing 737 Max planes, then the authorities of Britain, Germany, the Sultanate of Oman, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, the Emirates, Kuwait and Canada took the same decision, while the United States requested urgent adjustments from the manufacturer.
