On Thursday, US Representative Elliott Engel said that the White House had informed Congress of its intention to proceed with the sale of F-35s to the UAE.
Reuters said at the time that the White House intends to sell 50 aircraft of this model to the UAE, noting that the two countries hope to end the deal before the second of December, which is the UAE National Day, while the Foreign Relations Committee of the US Senate and Representatives will review the deal before it is officially completed.
Israel said last week it would not object to US sales of F-35 fighter jets to the UAE after the UAE became the third Arab country to normalize ties with Israel.
