Corona troubles milk companies and diapers

Manufacturers of infant formula and diapers are concerned about the impact of the Corona pandemic on their sales, with the number of newborns declining in the United States and China.

The Wall Street Journal said that there are concerns among these companies that sales will decline in the coming months due to the crisis, knowing that they are already facing problems due to the decline of births in the two countries for several years, which prompted them to change some of their production lines to other activities.

The US government has not released official data yet on the number of births in 2020, but the Brookings Center expects the number to drop to between 300,000 and 500,000 births, compared to a decrease of 44,172 last year.

The center based its analysis in part on what happened in the wake of the economic recession that occurred between 2007 and 2009, and indicates that the decline in economic opportunities leads to a decrease in the number of births.

Barclays Bank expected the birth rate in China to decline by 8 percent this year, double the decline recorded last year.
