Google solves an impossible biological problem!

Google's AI team, DeepMind, has developed an artificial intelligence algorithm that has been able to solve a biological challenge that has seemed impossible for decades.

And "DeepMind" announced in a blog, Tuesday, that its scientists have developed an algorithm called "AlphaFold 2" that solved the so-called "proteinض folding" problem.

Protein folding is an ambitious scientific endeavor aimed at predicting the shape of proteins based solely on their composition.

The prediction of protein structure is expected to greatly improve biomedical science and allow clinicians to develop new therapies more quickly.

Basically, proteins are chains of individual molecules called "amino acids" that have been folded into a complex shape.

Predicting protein structure is a huge challenge for scientists, and the algorithm performed better in prediction than any other algorithm in history. AlphaFold 2 was able to predict protein structure by 92.4%.

The "DeepMind" team said: "The team was able to predict the structure of many proteins present in the Corona Covid-19 virus."

The team expects the algorithm to speed up the pace at which doctors can analyze new diseases and develop potential treatments.

"The amazingly accurate (AlphaFold 2) models allowed us to solve the protein structure that we have been stuck in for nearly a decade," André Lubas, director of the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, said in the DeepMind blog.
