New OPEC meeting

The most prominent oil-producing countries that support increasing production will hold a meeting on Sunday, according to what OPEC announced after the failure of previous negotiations that took place at the beginning of July.

The meeting of the "OPEC Plus" alliance, and its most prominent members Saudi Arabia and Russia, will be held on Sunday at 10.00 GMT via video technology, according to what the Vienna-based OPEC secretariat said in a statement.

The 23 members of the coalition canceled a meeting scheduled for the fifth of July aimed at overcoming the impasse in terms of crude oil production levels.

And at the beginning of May, the group began to increase its production after reducing it last year to support oil prices during the crisis.

But at the beginning of July, the 13 members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and their 10 allies (OPEC Plus) did not reach an agreement on the production ratio as of August.

At the heart of the discussions is a proposal to increase production by 400,000 barrels per day between August and December.

But a dispute between the United Arab Emirates and the rest of the group has so far prevented a settlement.
