Both belonging to the Facebook group, the Instagram and WhatsApp applications will soon allow new interactions. This Monday, October 18, a new project to switch to a WhatsApp discussion from the Instagram profile was unveiled.
For now, this is an option for commercial use that should allow small businesses that have an Instagram to open conversations with potential customers who would be interested in acquiring works or products featured on the social network.
“For many small businesses, Instagram is the virtual storefront for customers to browse brands and WhatsApp is the place to discuss products, answer questions and complete a sale,” Facebook said in a statement.
SOON AN IDEA OPEN TO ALL INSTAGRAMERS?
Concretely, this option will allow you to quickly and easily start a conversation via WhatsApp. However, companies will have to request the addition of a virtual button on their profile. Once the Instagram user clicks on it, they will be redirected to WhatsApp automatically. A conversation thread will then be created to put the potential customer in touch with the company in question.
This new function is based on a survey conducted by Harris Interactive in 2020 which highlighted (during the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic) that “three quarters of adults worldwide say they want to communicate with businesses by messaging, from same way that they communicate with their friends and their family ”, recalls Facebook in this release.
If this new interaction can be set up for commercial purposes, it is not excluded that such an option will soon be open to the general public for instagramers who would like to get in touch with their community, for example. But on this point, the Facebook group did not say anything.
