The Moroccan Observatory for Small, Small and Medium Enterprises reported that companies with legal and legal personality achieved a total transaction number of 1781 billion dirhams in 2019.

According to the observatory, about 39.3 percent of this figure was achieved by very small, small and medium enterprises; While the share of major contracting companies amounted to 60.7 percent of it.

The observatory counted a total of 571,989 businesses in 2019; Of these, 303 thousand and 13 companies are legal persons, and 268 thousand and 976 are companies of personal persons.

In terms of legal form, the number of anonymous companies is estimated at about 9762, anonymous companies with limited liability with one partner with 84,637 companies, and anonymous companies with limited liability with 191004, and the rest are self-governing companies.

In its annual report, the observatory stated that nearly 92 percent of this entrepreneurship fabric are micro-enterprises, with a turnover of less than 3 million dirhams per year. As for medium and large enterprises, they represent 0.6 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively.

According to the data of the report, about 57 percent of these businesses are mainly concentrated in the Tangiers-El Jadida axis, and they achieve 82 percent of the total turnover.

The Casablanca-Settat region includes about 30.8 percent of the total contracting (about 175 thousand), followed by the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region with 14.5 percent, and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima with about 12 percent.

The lowest percentage of contracting is recorded in the Sahara regions, where the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region has 1.2 percent of contracting (7,102 businesses), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab with 1 percent, and Guelmim-Oued Noun with 0.9 percent (4907 businesses).

It is evident that very small, small and medium enterprises employ 74 percent of the wage earners registered with the National Social Security Fund, and generate less than 40 percent of the total turnover of non-financial companies.

The Observatory’s analysis reveals that 33 percent of the contracting works in the “trade and repair of

Companies are classified according to the number of transactions; It is the micro-contracting companies that achieve a turnover of less than 3 million dirhams, the very small enterprises that achieve a turnover of between 3 to 10 million dirhams, and the small enterprises that achieve a turnover of 10 to 50 million dirhams.
