FORD CONVERTS 1978 PICKUP TO ELECTRIC

 Ford has just unveiled a concept focusing in particular on retrofitting, that is to say the switch from a combustion engine to electric on an old model, in this case a 1978 F-100 pickup. everything with modern screens on board.



A preserved "seventies" style silhouette, but a 100% electric engine and modern equipment on board: this is the principle behind this "F-100 Eluminator" concept unveiled by Ford this week.


"Based on a 1978 F-100 pickup, the F-100 Eluminator concept features all-wheel drive via two powerful electric motors produced with the 2021 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition. These two electric motors drive the front wheels. and rear, developing a power of 480 horsepower and a torque of 860 Nm ", notes the Ford press release.


Ford is launching the marketing of an electric motor for this nascent retrofit sector, that is to say the switch from a thermal motor to electric on an old model.


"The e-crate engine is now available from Ford Authorized Distributors (in the United States) or online at the Ford Performance Parts website, priced at $ 3,900, it is intended for manufacturers looking for a transverse engine to electrify a range of vehicles ranging from modern to older cars, trucks and SUVs, ”the statement added, adding that the engine is approved in all 50 US states.
