Luka Modric was crowned 2018 player of the year by Fifa

Luka Modric has won the FIFA World Player of the Year award after a fierce competition with both Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 33-year-old Real Madrid midfielder has won former Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently plays for Juventus and Mohamed Salah in Liverpool.
Modric had won the Champions League for the third time in a row in May and led Croatia to their first World Cup finals in July.
Egyptian player Mohamed Salah won the best goal last year, which is named after the legend of world football Puskas.
The award was announced at the annual FIFA International Awards for Best Awards held last year in London.Salah is the first Arab and African player in history to win this award.
FIFA gave Brazilian Marta the World Player of the Year award while Belgium's Tibo Cortois won the best goalkeeper award while France coach Didier de Champ, who beat Croatia's Modric to the men's best coach award.
The Peruvian fans also received the title of best encouragement after several thousand flew to Russia in support of the first participation in their country in the tournament since 1978.
