Comment Huawei a réussi à surmonter les sanctions américaines

The Chinese company "Huawei" has recorded a number of important achievements during the past year; the first is to find an alternative to Google Maps for its phones by contracting with a Dutch company for navigation, and the second has reached its sales to 123 billion US dollars, an increase of 18% on an annual basis, despite the US sanctions.

On Friday (January 17), Huawei concluded a deal with the British company Tom Tom, specialized in navigation and digital maps, to use its maps in smart phone applications, according to the Arab Portal for Technical News.

The Chinese company’s move came after the US President Donald Trump’s administration actually blacklisted it last year, and prevented it from using the official Android operating system from Google, which made it compelled to develop its own operating system and services for smartphones.

Under the deal, Huawei will be able to use the Honda company maps, traffic information and navigation software to develop applications for smartphones.

On the sales side of the Chinese company, its current director, Xu Jijun, announced that the sales revenue is expected to reach about 123 billion US dollars, an increase of 18% on an annual basis.

Thus, according to Jijun, Huawei managed to sell more than two million units of the Huawei Watch GT2 smart watch in just 3 months, in addition to selling a million units of the Huawei FreeBuds earphone 3 in one month.

The company’s health application has reached 400 million monthly active users in 170 countries.

Jaejeon explained that his company expected sales to reach above the published number, but US sanctions against it prevented this.

He pointed out that the focus of "Huawei" for 2020 will be to develop its services for mobile devices to be a substitute for Google services, by eliminating dependency on US companies that are no longer able to deal with his company.

Huawei is a major focus of the trade war between Beijing and Washington, which included the technology company on its blacklist.

The US Department of Commerce announced that it will include 46 additional entities in the list of companies affiliated with "Huawei", which will be covered by the ban if fully implemented, which raises the number of entities included in the list to more than 100.

It is noteworthy that the American authorities announced, last May, to impose a ban on "Huawei" after accusing it of dealing with Chinese intelligence, which the company denies.
