Over the past months, Facebook has faced many problems; Between scandals and accusations.
From summoning the company before the courts several times, claiming monopoly and violating privacy, to being accused of supporting a candidate at another expense in the US elections, today it faces another obstacle.
Natalie Silvanovig, a researcher at Google, discovered a flaw in the popular messaging app "Messenger" that would allow others to spy on calls.
To entrap the victim, the intruder must initiate a voice call that includes invisible code (within the call) designed specifically for the purpose of hacking, and then he can listen to the victim's voice even if he does not answer the call.
According to what was published by "The Next Web", today, Friday, this vulnerability can be exploited only in special circumstances, and it requires specific tools.
For example, both the attacker and the victim need to log into Messenger on their Android devices.
The attacker also needs permission to contact the victim, meaning he must be already on the victim's friend list.
If the conditions are met and the attacker can contact the victim, then all of the victim's calls are available to the attacker.
Last year, Apple fixed a bug that allowed your contacts to eavesdrop on you through FaceTime.
"I started searching for other applications, until now, I was able to find errors in other communication applications such as Signal, Mocha and JioChat," said Silvanovig, after discovering this vulnerability.
"The company paid $ 11.7 million to security researchers who find errors in the company's programs," Facebook said.
