Qatar gas may become the best in the world, according to an American report

The US economic website Oil Price, which specializes in oil and gas affairs, said that Qatar’s project to expand its gas production capacity would make Qatari gas the best in the world.

The site pointed out that the State of Qatar recently announced plans to expand its production capacity significantly, indicating that the most important thing in the Qatari project is not only its enormous size, as it will be the largest LNG project in the world, according to what was reported by the local newspaper, Al Sharq, on Saturday.

The total annual production of Qatari gas will be raised from 77 million tons to 110 million tons, an increase of 40% in capacity, and the increase in capacity will cost $ 28.75 billion, with the project to be operational by 2025.

The report pointed out that the most important thing in the Northeast Field project is that it will include a carbon capture and sequestration system, and this means that the produced gas will have a lower carbon footprint than the LNG produced without the CCS system, which is what is done in most LNG production today.

In a previous report, Oil Price had expressed its belief that the State of Qatar was able to remain in the spotlight during 2021 in the liquefied gas sector. As a result of its ability to conclude two important agreements in its supply, indicating that Qatar is looking to control the fast-growing gas market, and it is qualified for that due to its production capacity and flexibility with buyers.

Qatar is the third largest exporter of natural gas in the world, and gas reserves in Qatar amount to about 15% of the discovered natural gas reserves in the world, and natural gas production in Qatar increased by 17.9%, or 5.8 billion cubic feet, as this is the highest rate of expansion in the East region. Middle. The North gas field contributes most of the Qatari gas production.
