Qatar Petroleum (government) signed a long-term contract with the China National Offshore Oil Corporation, lasting 15 years.
The Qatari company stated, today, Wednesday, that the contract signed between the two sides stipulates that Qatar Petroleum will supply 3.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas to the Chinese company for a period of 15 years, starting next year.
Qatar's exports of liquefied natural gas to China will rise to more than 15.5 million tons annually, which represents 20% of Qatar's exports of liquefied natural gas, which currently amount to 78 million tons annually.
In late June, Qatar Petroleum signed a huge deal to sell natural gas to China, which is a strategic partner in the field of energy, including supplying Chinese stations with one million tons of liquefied natural gas over a period of 10 years.
Last March, the Qatari company signed a long-term sale and purchase agreement with the China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), according to which it will supply the company with two million tons of liquefied natural gas annually.
Qatar has supplied natural gas quantities of 62 million tons of liquefied natural gas to China since 2009 until now.
Qatar Petroleum is working to increase production of liquefied natural gas by developing the North Gas Field by 63%, to reach 126 million tons by 2027.
Qatar Petroleum is a company owned by the Qatari government and is the largest liquefied gas company in the world, responsible for various investments in the oil and gas industry stages inside and outside the country.
