The UAE announced, on Saturday, the formation of a new government, two months before the country's celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of its founding, according to what was reported by the official Emirates News Agency (WAM).
UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said, "The new government will work with the new methodology that we launched today and will focus on the priorities adopted by the President of the State within the fifty principles," noting that this announcement came in consultation with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed. Mohammed bin Rashid indicated that the new government "will keep pace with the next stage with all its variables, challenges and speed of developments...to achieve the goals of the next stage of our development journey," explaining that "the coming cycles of change will be flexible and quick (from 6 months to two years), unlike previous strategic courses, which ranged from From 5 to 10 years.
The new government has 33 ministers, including the prime minister, of whom 9 are women.
Mohammed bin Rashid added: "We need to change the tools of change that we use, the new methodology of government work, which we will rely on to accelerate achievements, set priorities and approve projects and budgets, and we call on all federal institutions to work with them and commit to shifting towards them."
The new government did not undergo many changes, as the sovereign ministries remained unchanged, but the most prominent amendments was the appointment of Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, a position held by the late Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid.
The changes also include the appointment of Abdullah Al-Nuaimi as Minister of Justice and Abdul Rahman Al-Awar as Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation instead of Sultan Al-Badi and Nasser Al-Hamli, respectively, in addition to the appointment of Maryam Al-Muhairi as Minister of Climate Change and Environment and the transfer of the food and water security file to this portfolio, in addition to the appointment of Abdullah Al-Ketbi as Minister of Supreme Council Affairs. .
