Great attitude from McDonald's towards teachers and school staff
Educators, school staff and administrators can get a free McDonald's breakfast starting next Monday through October 15 at participating restaurants across the country during breakfast hours, according to USA TODAY.
The teacher or school employee will need to obtain a valid work form that proves the nature of his work, to receive the free meal that will be served as part of the classic Happy Meal with a drink.
The multi-day giveaway is "McDonald's first major national thank you to teachers," Jennifer Helen, the company's vice president of marketing and branding, said in an interview with the newspaper.
Helen added that the program is inspired by teacher appreciation campaigns at local restaurants and is a follow-up to the "thank you" meals that have been served over the past year to first-line responders to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
McDonald's introduced discretionary meals for the first time in spring 2020 in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, and during the two-week campaign, restaurants served 12 million meals to health care workers, police officers, firefighters and paramedics.
“We wanted to build on this idea and thank our teachers in our communities for everything they do and what they really do every day,” Helen said.
As a former teacher, Stephanie Cabrera Bentancourt, owner and operator of 18 McDonald's restaurants in Miami, believes teachers will be affected by the gesture, her restaurants have delivered food to schools during the pandemic, and over the years she has held a nightly fundraiser for McTeachers.
“I know this is something that will be greatly appreciated,” Bentancourt said, adding that teachers have had to adapt and endure during the pandemic.
McDonald's is also inviting its fans to honor the teachers with a social media campaign using #ThankYouMeal on Twitter, TikTok or Instagram, starting now until October 15th. their schools.
To get the free meal, McDonald's says teachers need to show valid business identification in the restaurant or at the counter, and there's one order per person during breakfast hours. Timings can vary by location, but usually end at 10:30 a.m.
Appetizer options are Egg McMuffin, Bacon, Eggs and Cheese, Biscuits and Sausage. Drinks options are medium heat coffee, iced coffee or soft drink. The menu options can vary from one restaurant to another.
