According to Agence France-Presse, FIFA is the undisputed leader in this type of video game, thanks to its licenses (in terms of the real names of players, teams, stadiums, etc.), and it has been developed by Electronic Arts every year since 1993. FIFA 22 is on the market in early October.

FIFA ranked first among video games in terms of sales in 2020, ahead of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, according to market research firm GfK.

The Japanese company, "Konami", a competitor to "Electronic Arts", preceded it to change the name of its game, as it replaced the old "Pro Evolution Soccer" with the title "E-Football".

Football video game enthusiasts were disappointed with this game and criticized the "mistakes" that marred it, although Konami, which provided it for free, wanted by launching it to compete with "Electronic Arts".
