Shares of European airlines saw a noticeable rise and an unprecedented turnout for the United States on the first day of easing travel restrictions.

According to a report published by CNN, airlines announced that they had made dozens of full-fledged flights to the country, as the German “Lufthansa” group (DLAKY) said that its subsidiaries provided 31 fully booked flights to the United States today, Monday.

While Virgin Atlantic announced that its flights were 98% full, both Swiss Air and British Airways said passenger turnout for flights departing to US destinations was "very high".

Analysts say the move by the United States may be part of a broader shift in international travel rules, with many countries around the world seeking measures to live with the pandemic rather than trying to stem transmission.

In this regard, Singapore, which is a major destination for business, announced last month that it would completely cancel the quarantine of travelers from some countries who have received the vaccine, while easing the stringent border restrictions across Southeast Asia.

Peter Kern, CEO of American Expedia (EXPE), announced that the company's revenue in its most recent quarter was up 97% compared to the same period last year. He added that its shares have jumped nearly 11% this month, and that "international aviation rebounded as soon as America announced the opening of its air borders to travelers."

But after a very turbulent period, some airlines are still worried that "the worst is not over yet". Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Airlines, said that despite the "clear momentum" it was clear that the "recovery will remain choppy."

He said reopening the United States to foreign tourists represented "a critical moment on our path toward international recovery," and predicted that 75% of his company's business would be back by the end of 2021.

The report pointed to the concerns of officials in this sector regarding the rise in fuel prices, as they indicated that they may have to raise the prices of airline tickets, which will make customers rethink travel and the rate of booking flights will decrease again.
