Argentine soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona died, on Wednesday, of a heart attack, according to his lawyer.
Shortly before his death, Argentine television reported that Maradona was suffering from a critical and serious health condition.
Maradona died at the age of 60, after undergoing an operation to remove a hematoma in his brain early this month.
The Argentine star’s life was punctuated by many health problems, some of which nearly claimed his life.
In 2000, Maradona suffered a heart attack after a drug overdose in the coastal city of Punta del Este. Then he underwent a long treatment in Cuba.
And in 2004, when he weighed more than 100 kilograms, he suffered another heart attack in Buenos Aires, but survived. Then he underwent stomach surgery that allowed him to lose 50 kg of weight.
