Dubai Aerospace Industries buys 15 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft

 Dubai Aviation Industries announced, on Tuesday, the signing of an agreement to purchase 15 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, valued at $ 1.8 billion.


The company, which is wholly owned by the Dubai government, said in a statement that it owns and operates 162 Boeing aircraft, including the new order.


She explained that there is an increasing number of airlines that started to restart the aircraft "Max", coinciding with the registration of the domestic and regional air travel sector strong signs of recovery.


The Dubai Aviation Industries deal comes at a time when the global aviation sector is suffering from the consequences of the Corona pandemic, whose negative effects will continue until 2024, according to estimates by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).


The Boeing 737 MAX 8 is part of the 737 MAX family designed to deliver greater fuel efficiency, performance and flexibility in the single aisle market.


And the use of "Boeing Max 737" was banned globally, after the crash of the Ethiopian plane of this model, in March 2019; As a result, 157 people were killed.


On October 29, 2018, a Boeing 737 Max aircraft also crashed in the Java Sea, Indonesia, killing all 189 passengers and crew.


In January, the European Union's Aviation Safety Agency allowed the return of Boeing 737 Max planes to service in Europe, following a 22-month ban, after the United States allowed them to return in November 2020.


Dubai Aerospace Industries is one of the aircraft rental and maintenance companies in the Middle East. The company, which is headquartered in Dubai, covers four continents.
