$1 billion to fund Israel's Iron Dome

On Thursday, the US House of Representatives approved a bill that would provide $1 billion to fund Israel's Iron Dome.

The bill now goes to the Senate for a vote, although a date has not yet been set, according to CNN.

And last Tuesday, Democrats in the House of Representatives sparked a storm of angry reactions after they withdrew from another bill the amount of one billion dollars earmarked for funding this anti-missile system, according to Agence France-Presse.

According to American media, the Democrats withdrew this amount from a bill intended to fund the federal government after pressure exerted on them by representatives from the left wing of the party, who refused to link in one text between Iron Dome and the financing of their government.

The $1 billion earmarked for the Israeli air defense system was initially included in the legislation considered by the House of Representatives earlier in the week, but the clause was removed from the final version “to appease a group of progressives who said they would reject the legislation unless this funding was struck off, According to "CNN".

Republican leaders had announced that they would not vote in the Senate for the bill that stripped Iron Dome funding, in a decision that effectively means nip this provision in the bud.
