Liverpool hit hard and swept, with the gem of its Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and the Brazilian Roberto Firmino trio, its host Watford 5-0
At the "Anfield" stadium, and awaiting the Chelsea match later with Brentford, Liverpool topped the standings after a distinguished attacking performance, a three-pointer for Firmino and a wonderful scorer for Salah, who was considered by his German coach, Jurgen Klopp, "the best currently" in the world.
And Liverpool, the only one who has not lost after this season, raised his score to 18 points, compared to 16 for European champions Chelsea, as they were tied in the last two games.
And Liverpool took revenge in the best way for its humiliating loss at Watford with three clean goals last February.
Klopp was, of course, satisfied with what his team presented, telling the "BT" sports channel that what he saw, Saturday, "was good! You can't say the opposite. It is very difficult to find the pace after the international match break (for two weeks) after I played in different ways. (With the national teams), but the boys were good, even though they had only one training session before today."
Liverpool dominated the first half, with an 80% possession, in exchange for a defensive slack from the new Italian coach, veteran Claudio Ranieri, who replaced Jesco Muños at the beginning of the international break.
Salah intelligently outperformed fullback Danny Rose in the middle of the field, and played a long pass on the ruler, which Mane followed alone in the net (9).
Liverpool logically killed the match before the break, with a start from Mane to the left and a pass to James Milner, which was reversed by a peeled cross to Firmino, who followed it in the empty goal (37).
At the beginning of the second half, Liverpool scored the third when Northern Irish defender Craig Cathcart tried to deflect a pass by Scottish Andy Robertson, the goalkeeper kept it away to find Firmino following it in the empty goal (52).
"Right now, it's the best."
Similar to his stark brilliance in recent matches, Salah manipulated Watford's defense and shoved it with shrewdness, launching a shot from inside the area at the far right corner of Foster's goal (54).
And this is the eighth time in a row that Salah scores for Liverpool, which is the longest streak for the red team since Daniel Sturridge (8) in February 2014.
Klopp praised Salah, who "performed a tremendous performance today. The pass in the first goal was great and the second goal was special. It's excellent and we all see it?" "Ronaldo is for the world of football and their dominance. But at the moment, he (Salah) is the best."
While the match was breathing its last, Firmino, who played his second main match this season, scored his third and fifth goal for his team, following a peeled ball from the right side played by Welsh substitute Nico Williams (90+1), to achieve the Brazilian's first hat-trick since 2018.
