Paris Saint-Germain: Real must be punished for pursuing Mbappe

The sporting director of Paris Saint-Germain, Brazilian Leonardo, called for the imposition of sanctions on the Spanish club Real Madrid, due to the latter's "persecution" of the French star, Kylian Mbappe, as he described it.

Mbappe's contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the current season, allowing any other team to open the door to negotiations with him from next January, if the French star insists not to renew his contract and stay in the "Princes' Garden".

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said earlier this week that Los Blancos was optimistic about receiving positive news about Mbappe in January, although he later said his comments had been misunderstood.

Before that, the French star and striker, Real Madrid, explained that his colleague in the “rooster team” joined the royal team is just “a matter of time.”

Commenting on these statements, Leonardo said in an interview, excerpts from the Spanish newspaper “AS” were quoted: “I think that the riyal was not serious about its offers and that they were seeking to obtain Mbappe services for free after the end of his contract, and for two years they have been talking about their desire to get him.” That is why they should be punished."

He added: "I see in Real Madrid's actions a lack of respect for Mbappe. He is not an ordinary player, he is one of the best players in the world, and the statements of the club's president (Florentino Perez) and some players revealed their intentions and this is not worthy of respect."

Mbappe had confirmed earlier this month that he wanted to leave Paris Saint-Germain during the summer Mercato period, and that Real Madrid was the only club he wanted to join.

However, Mbappe has not ruled out signing a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain, with his mother claiming this week that her son is still in talks about extending the contract.

"Our idea is to extend Kylian Mbappe's contract," Leonardo added. "Nothing has changed in our plans."

He added: "Killian is a jewel, he is incredibly perfect for Paris Saint-Germain. Then we have Leo (Messi) and Neymar. We never planned for the future of Paris Saint-Germain without Mbappe."
