Invent a technology to try on clothes “virtually” when you shop online

One of the downsides of shopping online is that you don't try on the clothes you want to buy, which can lead to buying clothes that don't fit a person's height, but in India technology has been developed which virtually reveals the appearance of the dress on whoever wants to buy it online and whether it fits their size.

For years, computer experts have used deep learning techniques to create anthropomorphic human models capable of virtually measuring clothes to test their appearance on online shoppers.

Experts confirm that this technology has many useful applications, especially in e-commerce, video games, and 3D designs.

Against this background, two researchers from the TCS Research Institute in India have successfully developed deep learning technology that can predict how shoppers will look when wearing the items they want to buy online, and whether those clothes will match. to the buyer's physical specifications. .

The tech-savvy TechExplore website quoted Progshwar Bhumik, one of the researchers who invented the new technology, as saying that “online shopping allows consumers to browse large amounts of products without the hassle of shopping around. go to the markets, but one of the Buyer is not allowed to measure the clothes he wants to buy, which can lead to the purchase of clothes that do not correspond to the nature of each body.

Bomek pointed out that "the idea of trying on clothes virtually" might help solve this problem. The study team claims that the idea of trying on clothes by default allows shoppers to shop for their clothes online after they get a feel for how they look when wearing those clothes, adding that previous experiences in the same field did not take into account the difference in body measurements from one consumer to another, but the new application which bears the name "Deep Draper" can be fed with the measurements of each body, and it does not require a lot of computing power and memory capacity of the device that every buyer uses.

Bomic said that "Deep Draper" is an application powered by deep learning techniques that allows shoppers to measure clothes on virtual items that take the same physical measurements as their own, based on a photo or a video of the buyer introduced in the application.
