Upcoming Apple Watches and Phones Will Call Emergency When You Have an Accident

Leaks reported by media outlets revealed that Apple will add a feature to its future devices that will make it able to call the 911 emergency phone when the user has a collision.

According to The Wall Street Journal, today, Monday, the company is expected to announce this feature next year.

Smart devices will have the ability to detect collisions using the accelerometer chip that will be embedded in the devices, which can sense any changes, sharp increases in gravity or sudden strong movement of the user's body.

The newspaper added that Apple has been testing the feature over the past year, and has collected data from many users.

She explained that the tech giant in California used emergency call data, which was previously made by owners of an Apple phone or watch with 911, in order to improve its fault detection algorithm.

It is noteworthy that the Apple Watch 4 was the first to add a fall detection feature, and now it is being developed to detect collisions.

Fall detection has saved many lives, most recently in March when a teacher fell into a puddle while skiing.

Apple’s contributions to the health sector have been numerous in previous years, as as part of the “iOS 15” operating system, Apple introduced a feature that measures a person’s stability in walking through the “Health” application.

The Apple Watch 6 was the first smartwatch to include a reader to measure the level of oxygen in the blood.

Apple is also working to detect whether a person is depressed by detecting signs of how a person uses their smartphone.

And in 2019, CEO Tim Cook said Apple's greatest achievement would be "health."
