Qatar is preparing to be the first Gulf country to operate a marine submarine and an aircraft carrier, as it seeks to boost its military capabilities.
And the American magazine "Forbes" stated that Qatar "will become the first Gulf country to operate submarines and an aircraft carrier, after it signed a deal worth 5 billion euros with the Italian giant defense company" Fincantere "to build advanced warships and submarines, and establish an offshore naval base.
She pointed out that the Qatari submarines "may be part of a larger deal worth 5 billion euros with Italy, which was agreed in 2017."
This deal included a large helicopter carrier, four warships and two patrol boats.
The magazine emphasized that Iran is currently the only operator in the Persian Gulf for these submarines, with the exception of the American submarine or the European submarine deployed there.
In June 2016, the company signed a contract worth 4 billion euros with the Qatari Ministry of Defense to build seven surface ships currently being built in the group's Italian shipyards.
The State of Qatar is constantly keen to enhance the capabilities of its armed forces and expand its military partnerships, in order to ensure that it provides as much as possible to defend the country's borders and ensure its stability, and has increased the pace of these steps after the siege imposed on it by its neighbors for more than two and a half years.
