Haftar receives enormous military support

A French newspaper revealed the size of the military equipment supplied by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Zayed, retired Major General Khalifa Haftar, to continue the fight against the internationally recognized Libyan government, noting that it amounted to 3 thousand tons within 14 days.

The Intelligence Online newspaper, which is concerned with intelligence affairs, said today, Friday, that Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Zayed, provided Haftar within two weeks with 3,000 tons of military equipment.

The newspaper pointed out that "what the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi provided Hifter's forces in two weeks is equivalent to the support he provided during the whole year."

It stated that "Russian support for Haftar became symbolic after Moscow's negotiations with Ankara."

On Thursday, Libya’s delegate to the United Nations, Ambassador Taher Al-Sunni, said that the expert committee’s report revealed the UAE’s involvement in supporting the rebel general Haftar in launching attacks on Libyan cities, and causing many crimes.

The Libyan delegate to the United Nations said, at the UN session held in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of the Congo: "The report of the expert committee revealed the UAE's involvement 11 times in supporting violations and crimes in Libya," noting that the report "revealed the UAE's support for the armor, defense systems and drones. ".

A shooting agreement has been in effect in Libya since January 12, with a Turkish-Russian initiative, and was confirmed at the Berlin conference, which was held on the 19th of the same month; but Khalifa Haftar's forces violated the agreement several times.

And Haftar's forces imposed an air embargo on civil and military aviation in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and its environs, as well as blocking ports and oil fields in the country.

Since April 4, 2019, the forces of the Emirati-Egyptian-backed rebel brigade have launched an offensive to take control of Tripoli, the seat of the internationally-recognized "Al-Wefaq" government.
