Elon Musk comments on the White House decision

Tesla, the leader in the field of electric cars, was excluded from the invitations to a meeting at the White House, Thursday, designated by US President Joe Biden to give impetus to the manufacture of these mechanisms.

"It is strange that Tesla was not invited," Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in a tweet on Twitter about the meeting to which the three major American car manufacturers "General Motors", "Ford" and "Stylantis", the owner of the Chrysler brand, were invited.

And the president of Tesla, which produces fully electric cars, expressed his surprise because he was not invited to a meeting in the White House organized by the US President to accelerate the production of electric cars.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said at her daily press briefing that "the three largest companies that provide jobs at the UAW and the president of the union, so I'll let you draw your own conclusions" are the ones who met Biden Thursday.

In response to a question whether the White House intentionally excluded "Tesla", Psaki said, "They are the three major players in the Auto Workers union. I leave it to you to draw conclusions."

But Psaki noted that the Biden administration welcomes the efforts of all electric vehicle manufacturers, including Tesla.

Musk, a wealthy and sharp-tempered businessman, is a pioneer in the electric car industry. His company, Tesla, last month reported its first quarterly profit to exceed $1 billion in record deliveries.

But it is in a dispute with the Auto Workers Union, which filed a complaint in 2017 accusing Tesla of laying off employees because of union sympathy. Musk had previously fired an employee who had established a union. He also posted anti-union tweets, which prompted the Workers' Union to file a lawsuit against him.

"I don't anticipate this will be the last time we talk about clean cars and giving electric cars the push, and we look forward to having a group of partners in this effort," said Sacchi.

"We certainly welcome the efforts of automakers who recognize the importance of the electric vehicle in the future and support efforts that will help achieve the president's goal, and Tesla is certainly one of those companies," she added.

In an interview with CNBC, US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said he did not know why Tesla was excluded from the meeting.
