The Marines are preparing for Iran

With the escalation of the Iranian threat in the region, the United States began taking serious steps to deter this danger, the most recent of which was announced by the commander of the US Central Command (Centcom), General Kenneth McKinsey.

The US Central Command's Facebook page conveyed statements to McKinsey, in which he said that the United States has sent to the Gulf region an amphibious ready-to-deploy Marines group ARG, a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and an aircraft carrier.

ARG Amphibious Amphibious Ready to Deploy

It is a group of marine vessels consisting of two main branches, namely the group of amphibious mission forces "ATF", and the landing force or as it is known as "LF" which belongs to the Marines, and sometimes the American army, and consists of about 5 thousand people.

The mission of the ready-made amphibious group is to perform amphibious operations, and it consists of the following parts:

LHD: It is a small aircraft carrier, designed to land soldiers on hostile beaches. It can also carry a Harrier aircraft (with takeoff and vertical landing) and an anti-submarine helicopter.

- LPD amphibious transport vessel: It is a ship that can transport soldiers to war zones by sea, using conventional landing craft or hovercraft, in addition to the ability to operate helicopters through the air platforms that carry them.

LSD Landing Ship: A vessel intended to support amphibious operations including landings on hostile beaches, via LCAC carriers, traditional boats, and helicopters.

In addition to those marine vessels, there are air parts attached to them, where they were designated places for landing and take off, and the most prominent of them are:

Harrier 2: a multi-role fighter, the second generation of the Harrier family that features vertical takeoff and landing as well as conventional takeoff and landing, intended to carry out attacks on ground targets, day or night.

CH-53C Stallion: Helicopter transporting people, supplies and equipment to support amphibious and coastal operations.

CH-46C Knight: Helicopter primarily used to transport cargo and troops.

AH-1 Super Cobra: Attack helicopter providing fiery support to ground forces during amphibious landings and subsequent operations on shores.

MEU Naval Exploration Units

Smallest ground units to complete missions within the US Marine Fleet.

This exploration force is tasked with carrying out rapid dealing operations, whether in natural disasters or in combat missions. This unit usually consists of 2,200 marines and sailors, and this force consists of about 4 main units.

CE Command: It is a command unit made up of 200 Marines and sailors, whose mission is to issue orders and coordinate unit operations.

GCE Ground Combat Unit: It consists of about 1,200 soldiers, who carry various types of firearms such as heavy machine guns, mortars, and sniper rifles, as well as anti-armor squads.

ACE Combat Aviation Unit: It consists of helicopters that can carry supplies and soldiers to combat areas. This unit consists of about 500 human personnel.

The Logistics Combat Unit: It consists of about 300 marines and seas, and specializes in transportation, maintenance, supply, explosive ordnance disposal, water production and distribution, as well as engineering and medical services, and fuel supply.

The level of Upper Egypt increased between Iran and the United States after the commander of the Quds Force in the Revolutionary Guards Qassem Soleimani and a number of other soldiers, including the deputy commander of the Popular Mobilization militia Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, were killed in a US raid in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, at the beginning of this month.

Iran responded with missile strikes targeting the Iraqi military base of al-Assad, which hosts American soldiers without casualties.

The United States accuses Iran of being behind attacks targeting Saudi oil facilities, as well as navigation traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
