THE BARÇA SEPARATES FROM ITS COACH, RONALD KOEMAN

As in response to his defeat against Rayo Vallecano (0-1), Wednesday, October 27, FC Barcelona sacked his coach in the wake. The club formalized the departure of Ronald Koeman late in the evening.

“FC Barcelona removed Ronald Koeman from his duties as coach of the first team last night,” the Catalan team wrote on Twitter. Normally linked with Barça until June 2022, the Dutch technician will not have held until then. It must be said that, since joining the club in August 2020, Koeman has never really managed to guide the team to success.

Especially lately, the coach has been under pressure. First because Barça is stagnating in 9th place in the Spanish championship and is on the verge of elimination in the Champions League. Then, because the club have never won away from home this season, and have not even scored away from Camp Nou since August. Without counting the Clasico lost (1-2) at home against Real Madrid, Sunday, October 24, at the end of which Koeman was heckled by the Barcelona supporters, when he left the stadium.

At the end of September, already, the Dutchman had narrowly avoided the eviction, after the crushing defeat (3-0) of FC Barcelona at home, against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. At the time, club president Joan Laporta reaffirmed his support for Ronald Koeman.

That time is now over and, when it comes to appointing a replacement, the name of Xavi Hernandez, former glory of Camp Nou, seems on everyone's lips. Those of the Italian Andrea Pirlo and Roberto Martinez, Spain coach of Belgium, are also mentioned. While waiting for the final choice, the interim could be provided by Sergi Barjuan, current coach of Barça's reserve team.
